Join the Maryland Chapter of the SLA on Thursday, March 19th at the National Cryptologic Museum for an enlightening tour and networking buffet from 5:30 – 8 PM.

Take advantage of this unique opportunity to learn about the world of secret codes while mingling with your friends and colleagues in our diverse community of information professionals.

Museum Curator Patrick Weadon will guide us on a tour at 6 PM through the secret world of codes and ciphers, while we enjoy mini-sandwiches, hors d’oeuvres, light desserts, and a cash bar.  Museum Librarian Rene Stein will be on hand to greet us and show us the Library.

Highlights of the tour will include exhibits featuring the Native American Code Talkers, WWII German and Japanese code machines for the encryption and decryption of secret messages, and cryptology during the Cold War.

After the initial guided tour, Curator Weadon will be on hand to answer any questions and offer an optional second tour for late-comers. Participants are also encouraged to discover the museum on their own while they enjoy their wine and hors d’oeuvres. The Museum Gift Shop will remain open until 6:30 PM.
