Meet the Candidates!

( Volume 54, Issue 4, Oct. 2006)

Election season is upon us! The following members are candidates for the 2007 SLA Maryland Chapter Board.

President-Elect (2007-2008)

Two-year term
Candidate:  Edna Paulson

Edna Paulson is Principal Information Specialist at Chugach Industries, Inc., at the NASA Center for AeroSpace Information in Hanover, MD. Her duties include answering queries to the NASA STI Help Desk, training database users, and working on database interface, data quality, and acquisitions issues. She has been a member of the Maryland Chapter since 1996 and served as Corresponding Secretary 1999-2000. She served as Local Arrangements Chair for SLA Baltimore 2006 and is member of the Aerospace Section of the Engineering Division. Previously she owned her own business, was head librarian at the American Petroleum Institute, and the National Academies.  She has a M.L.S. from the University of Maryland and a B.A. from New College of Florida.

Secretary (2007-2008)

Two-year term
Candidate:  Elizabeth Scalia

Liz Scalia has over nine years of experience in libraries and information centers. She received her master's degree in Library and Information Science from Louisiana State University in 1999. She is currently a solo librarian at the American Institutes for Research Health Program in Silver Spring, MD. Prior to her position at AIR, she was the Information Specialist for the Kellogg Company in Battle Creek, Michigan. She has experience in public, academic, government and special libraries.

Director (2007)

One-year term
Candidate: RuthAnn Humphreys

RuthAnn is an Assistant Administrator at Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory in the R.E. Gibson Library in the Business & Government Information Department. Her duties include research and staff database introduction/instruction, serials maintenance, reference support and library administrative tasks. Previous positions include Allied Signal Aerospace, in a one-person library, and Essex Community College Library. She has a B.S. (Instructional Technology '85) from Towson University.

Director (2007-2008)

Two-year term
Candidate: Andrew Zimmerman

Andrew Zimmerman is the Director of Library Services at Gordon, Feinblatt, Rothman, Hoffberger & Hollander LLC in Baltimore, MD. He previously worked as a Research Analyst in the Baltimore office of Hogan & Hartson LLP.   He holds a B.A. (English) from Vassar College, a J.D. from The Dickinson School of Law and an M.L.I.S from the Pratt Institute. He has been an SLA member since 2001.
