Mastering the Art of Information Sleuthing - for Business, Science, Legal and Other Hidden Resources - The Kentucky Chapter and the Legal Division of SLA are co-sponsoring a day of workshops focused on doing legal research with a twist, along with a presentation by Ethel Salonen, President of SLA. The program will take at the University Club at Chancy Center (Belknap Campus, University of Louisville), Friday, February 18, from 10:30 AM to 5:00 PM. Cost is $25. Lunch is provided. A special rate of $79 per night for hotel accommodations at the Inn at Jewish Hospital has been secured. Mention the Kentucky Chapter of Special Libraries Association to receive this rate when making accommodations before February 7, 2005. Send back your registration form before Friday, February 11, 2005. Attendance is limited to 70 participants. Sponsorship for the program has been offered by Thomson West, LexisNexis, and EBSCO. | October 13, 2005 | SLA-KY Chapter Program Meeting - Kentucky Chapter was key in initiating the discussion at the national level about dues restructuring. Gloria Zamora, the Treasurer of SLA, will speak with us on the process, where we are and where we want to be.
The meeting, open to all members, will be at Keeneland Race Course, 4201 Versailles Road, in Lexington. A board meeting and the presentation will take place at 10:00AM in the Keeneland Directors Room. The buffet lunch and the afternoon at the races will take place from 12:00PM to 5:00PM in the Phoenix Dining Room that overlooks the saddling paddock. A dress code will be in effect (suit or sport coat for gentlemen with ties optional. Suits, dresses or dress slacks for ladies. Skirts with proper blouses or sweaters. No denim or athletic wear). Registration fee is $40.00. Reserve your ticket by September 29 with Cathy Schenck (reservations for a group of 30 have been made so reserve early). Parking is free. | January 29, 2004 | Associations Lunch - There will be a LISSO lunch, in conjunction with the student chapters of SLA, ALA, and SAA at the School of Library and Information Science at UK. It is a great opportunity for everyone to meet and have fun over lunch, as well as learning about the professional associations. Lunch (pizza, salad and dessert) is set for 11:30A.M. - 1:00P.M. in the Student Lounge in the LC fine Arts building. SLIS students are welcome to participate and SLA members are welcome to volunteer.
