Tips to Recruit New Members

If you are a member of SLA, you can choose to become a member of the Heart of America Chapter (HOA) either during your membership registration or later on.  Please see the SLA website for more information on joining SLA or choosing HOA as your chapter.

The Heart of America Chapter encompasses the state of Kansas, and western Missouri.  Since most of our members live and work in the Kansas City area,  most of our functions are also held here.  However, we are working on providing additional professional experiences for our members who live and work in the other areas of our region.

There are different levels of SLA membership, including Full Membership, Organizational Membership, and Student Membership.

HOA has two library schools in our region, and we encourage students to be a part of our chapter for learning, networking, and internship opportunities.

• School of Library and Information Management (SLIM) at Emporia State University, Emporia, Kansas.

• School of Information Science and Learning Technologies (SISLT) through the University of Missouri-Columbia at their satellite site at UMKC in Kansas City, Missouri.
