JUDITH J. FIELD ON KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT & SLA ISSUES
We are very honored to have SLA President Judith J. Field as our special guest. Judith is
Senior Lecturer of Wayne State University's Library and Information Science program and a
management consultant. She has been actively involved in SLA for more than 25 years and
recently enrolled in the Legacy Club, which is the Association's exclusive group of
long-term supporters. Judith will address the topic of Knowledge Management, update us on
SLA issues, and welcome any of our questions. We are also delighted that Miriam A. drake,
Past SLA President (1993/94) and Dean of Libraries at the Georgia Institute of Technology,
will also be in attendance for this special program.
SOUTH CAROLINA STATE MUSEUM
Following the program, you will have the opportunity to explore South Carolina's largest
museum. The State Museum is located in the historic Columbia Mills Building, which opened
in 1894 as the world's first totally electric textile mill. The museum features four
floors of extensive exhibits in the disciplines of art, science, history, and technology.
Special thanks to IHS, RoweCom and Desktop Data for their generous sponsorship of this
meeting.
Gina Breland (IHS), Roger Glenn (RoweCom), and Scott Pickett (Desktop Data) will be
available to meet you and answer questions about their products.
DIRECTIONS
The State Museum is located at 301 Gervais Street (U.S. Highway 1) beside the Gervais
Street bridge and just a few blocks west of the State Capitol in downtown Columbia. There
are entrances from both Gervais and Huger Streets. Heading west on Gervais, you can turn
into the parking lot from Gervais Street. If you are traveling east, you should take a
left on Huger and another left at the State Museum sign. (Don't make a U-turn on Huger to
get back to the entrance on Gervais.) If you need directions from various points in the
Carolinas, please visit http://www.museum.state.sc.us/Art/map.htm
or contact patsy Moss using the information provided below. All events prior to 3:00 will
