DC/SLA Mentoring Program Spend a Day with a Special Librarian |
| Spend a Day with a Special Librarian To learn more and to register, fill out our survey. If you're thinking about working in a special library -- law, medical, government, news, corporate, etc. -- or if you're just curious about what special libraries are like, the DC Chapter of the Special Libraries Association has just the opportunity for you. Our "Spend a Day with a Special Librarian" program pairs you up with a library that matches your interests. You and the librarian work out a mutually convenient time, and you spend a day (or a half day -- whatever you and your host decide) visiting, meeting the staff, and learning about the world of special libraries. Often, students entering our Master’s programs aren’t as aware of the opportunities in special libraries and nontraditional information services as they are of those in other types of libraries. By hosting a student for a day, members give that student new perspectives on librarianship, and possibly influencing the student’s career choice. Plus, they get the benefit of connecting with a new professional and getting a different take on libraries, librarianship, and library school. This opportunity is available to all Master's students in library and information science. To learn more and to register, fill out our survey. Please direct any questions or comments to Dave Shumaker. |
