WHAT:  Resources for Responding to Acts of Terrorism

Brad Robison, librarian for the Memorial Institute for the Prevention of Terrorism (MIPT), will be in Washington, DC to demonstrate several tools that the Institute has developed to support responders to acts of terrorism. The Memorial Institute for the Prevention of Terrorism is a component of the Oklahoma City National Memorial and was established to sponsor research on terrorism as well as techniques and technology to assist response professionals in preventing and responding to terrorism. MIPT focuses on five core areas: Lessons learned, Research, Acting as a neutral forum, Providing information, and Outreach.

Mr. Robison will demonstrate some of the Institute’s available information including their Lessons Learned Information Sharing Web site (www.llis.gov), the Responder Knowledge Base (www.rkb.mipt.org), and their Terrorism Knowledge Base (www.tkb.org). The program will include a discussion of resources that are valuable for responders to acts of terrorism.

Event Sponsors: DC Chapter of the Special Libraries Association (SLA) as well as the SLA Government Information Division, the DC Library Association, and the U.S. EPA National Library Network.
