Join the DC/SLA chapter as it kicks off the year-long celebration of SLA's Centennial in style!
This featured speaker at this signature event will be Guy St. Clair, author of SLA's commemorative history, "SLA
at 100: From Putting Knowledge to Work to Building the Knowledge Culture."
Mr. St. Clair will speak to members about what he learned in writing the
book, share some of the association's historical highlights, and describe
how these first one hundred years have been, as he puts it, "just prelude, a
lead-in to our association's true greatness to come."
"First of all," says St. Clair, "this is a very personal approach to an institutional or organizational history. In fact, there's no way it could be anything else, for as I say in the author's biographical note in the book, I could not have had a career without SLA.”
Guy St. Clair is well known to SLA members as "Mr. Knowledge Services," as SLA's president in 1991-1992, and as a consulting specialist for knowledge services at SMR International.
Long-term DC/SLA members will also be honored at the event with gifts provided by the SLA Government Information
Division.
