Join DC/SLA for our inaugural program in the series Library Leaders/Distinguished Speakers with Roberta Shaffer, Law Librarian of Congress. During a lively interview session (moderated by Mary Talley, DC/SLA First Vice-President), Roberta Shaffer will share her insights on career advancement and management and leadership issues. Program participants will have an opportunity to participate in a question and answer session at the end of the interview.

After serving 4 years as the Executive Director of the Federal Library and Information Center Committee/Federal Library Network at the Library of Congress, Roberta Shaffer was appointed Law Librarian of Congress in August 2009.
Prior to that, she held positions with the University of Texas at Austin, the University of Maryland, George Washington University Law School, the University of Houston Law Center, and the Law Library of Congress. For nine years, she served as the Director of Research Services at the Washington-based law firm of Covington and Burling.

Roberta has been a Fulbright Research Scholar in Israel and Portugal.  She is a graduate of Vassar College and has a JD from Tulane and an MLn from Emory University. She is admitted to the DC, Texas and US Supreme Court Bars.
