Stargazing over Washington, D.C.

DC/SLA members and guests are invited to join the Military Librarians’ Group of DC/SLA for a visit to the U.S. Naval Observatory. We will tour the Gillis Library and gaze at the stars and satellites above the Washington, D.C. area through one of the observatory's telescopes.


WHEN:

Tuesday, September 16, 2008,    7:00 p.m.
     We will begin the evening by touring the library.
     Please arrive about half an hour early to get through security and find parking.

WHERE:

U.S. Naval Observatory
Corner of 34th and Massachusetts Ave, NW
Washington, DC

Nearest METRO station is Woodley Park/Zoo (red line), but this does not appear to be a convenient walk.


ACCESS:

The U.S. Naval Observatory is a government research center under the jurisdiction the United States Navy. Visitors must enter through the South Gate off of Observatory Circle. Please bring photo identification such as a Drivers License with you.


REGISTRATION:

Please RSVP by close of business Friday, September 12. Security at the Naval Observatory requires a list of participants in advance of the event.
