Pentagon Library Tour

Special Tour of Renovated, Revitalized Pentagon Library

The Military Librarians Group of DC/SLA is pleased to invite you to a tour of the Pentagon Library’s newly renovated quarters on Thursday afternoon, February 8, 2007 from 3-5 p.m.

The Pentagon Library is co-located with the new Conference Facility so you’ll be able to get a peek at that area, too.  Attendance is limited to 50 guests.

PLAN OF THE DAY

Getting into the Pentagon:  Arrive at the Pentagon METRO Station (Blue/Yellow Lines) not later than 2:45 pm if you require an escort.  It is about a 10-15 minute walk and multiple badge/ID checks to get to the library.  You are advised to bring as few items as possible with you.  From the METRO - go up to the “street” level, follow around to the Pentagon entrance; go to the No Badge Line – show two forms of picture ID (a Driver’s License, Passport, CAC* Card, something issued by a government); Keep that ID handy! Once inside the Pentagon go to the Visitors Badge Area and sign in, get a Visitors Badge.  Someone from the Pentagon Library will be there to escort you from 2:30–3:15 pm.

*Common Access Card --  a Federal/DOD government issued ID card for access to computers, etc  Can be used as one form of picture ID.  CAC Card Holders will need a “No Escort Visitors Badge.” They cannot escort others.  A CAC Card alone will not allow you entrance to the Pentagon. Get “no escort” badge.

Library Tour:  Join the staff for a tour of the facilities.  Light refreshments will be served.

Happy Hour/Dinner (optional):  Join the Pentagon Library Staff in Crystal City at Hamburger Hamlet for Happy Hour and dinner via METRO (Blue/Yellow Lines – 2 stops to Crystal City).  Couldn’t make the tour? Meet at Hamburger Hamlet at 5:30 pm.

REGISTER: The Pentagon Tour is fully subscribed and a Wait List has been established.  If you would like to put your name on the Wait List, please send an e-mail with daytime phone number to sharon.lenius@us.army.mil.  If spaces become available you will be notified by COB February 6, 2007 via e-mail.
IN CASE OF INCLEMENT WEATHER: Tour a “go” unless government. closes early.  Optional plans -- still optional!
