The Archivist for DC/SLA is responsible for insuring the preservation of the materials
that document the day to day activities of the chapter. S/he works to collect non-current
records from outgoing officers and insures that they are transferred to the Washingtoniana
Division of the DC Public Library, where the DC/SLA archives are stored. If you wish to do

The Chair of the Awards Committee
is responsible for administering the Chapter's awards program, which seeks
to recognize outstanding contributions of Chapter members both to the Association
and to the Chapter. The Committee's principal functions are to identify
and nominate candidates from the Washington, DC Chapter for awards from
the Association and to select candidates for awards to Chapter members
presented by the Chapter at the annual business meeting.

The Elections Committee
is charged with the conduct of Chapter elections, counting and tabulating all ballots,

Notes is the newsletter of the DC Chapter of the Special Libraries Association (SLA). It is published nine times per year.
Material for Chapter Notes should be sent to the editor. Contributions are always welcomed. The preferred submission format is MSWord document sent via e-mail sent to the editor.

on a monthly basis to our new members. Every month the Chair also e-mails
the new member names to the Chapter Notes editors. The Chair may also divide
up the new member names and e-mail them to the DC/SLA Board members, so
the Board members can call the new members personally welcoming them to
the Chapter. |

The responsibility of the Hospitality Chair is to work in conjunction with the President Elect to plan the food and space requirements for the years programs. The Hospitality Chair will have a committee of volunteers to help with taking reservations, making nametags and other duties as needed. The Hospitality Chair needs to be conscious of budget considerations in planning events and attempt to provide venues accessible and appealing to a wide variety of members.

The Military Librarians' Group (MLG) became a recognized unit of DC SLA in the
early 1950’s. Programs range from military history to current topics in information science.
Activities include tours, performances, lectures, book talks, SLA virtual seminars, luncheons,
and dinners. While mainly aimed at information professionals working for or with the Department
of Defense, MLG events are open to all chapter members. Participants also support the other
programs within the chapter. The group makes an effort to sponsor four to five events each year.
