Why Join SLA?

Joining a professional association is a great way to meet and network with other professionals in your field of interest regardless of where you are in your career. Membership in SLA's Central Ohio chapter connects you with professionals who live and work in your area and provides you with a community of people with similar interests and career goals.

To a potential employer, involvement in a professional organization like SLA demonstrates commitment to the profession and to one's professional growth. For experienced professionals, participation in professional organizations shows a willingness to share knowledge and experience with new or less experienced members, develop leadership skills, and shape the direction of the profession.

Special librarians know well the importance of communicating their value to their organizations. Networking and learning from the shared experiences of fellow CO-SLA members provide support and guidance for members to most effectively communicate the value of their own contributions to their organizations.

When joining SLA, you will automatically become a member of the Central Ohio chapter if your address falls within the geographical boundaries of the chapter1.

1The geographic boundaries of the Central Ohio chapter are the western and eastern boundaries of the state of Ohio, the southern boundaries of the counties of Preble, Montgomery, Greene, Fayette, Ross, Vinton, Perry, Morgan, Noble and Monroe, and the northern boundaries of the Counties of Van Wert, Allen, Hardin, Marion, Morrow, Knox, Coshocton, Guernsey and Belmont, or who elect to affiliate with the Chapter.
