The Cleveland Marshall College of Law at Cleveland State
University has an immediate opening for the position of Collection
Development/Acquisitions Librarian.
Job Summary: Coordinates and manages the Law Library's selection and
acquisition of print and electronic resources to support the mission of
the College of Law and the University. Maintains faculty research
interest inventory. Manages Special Collections and College of Law
Publications Archive. Provides electronic and print legal and other
specialized research and reference services. Interacts professionally
with all internal and external customers using strong interpersonal
skills.
Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree in Library Science (MLS) from
an ALA accredited institution and a Juris Doctor degree or equivalent
from an ABA accredited school (one of the degrees may be in progress,
but must be completed by August 31, 2012). Familiarity/knowledge of
legal materials in both print and electronic format. Experience and or
demonstrated interest in working with electronic resources, especially
in an environment where such work leads to providing assistance to
others. Experience and/or interest in teaching and in reference work.
Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills and the
ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a
diverse community.
Preferred Qualifications: Professional experience in a law library.
Experience working in a library acquisitions department. Knowledge of
publisher and vendor practices.
Salary: Commensurate with experience
