News & Notes by Kami Bedard, kbedard@PierceAtwood.com

Betty Edwards, Manager of Business Development Research at law firm Seyfarth Shaw in Boston, was elected to a two-year term as Treasurer of SLA's Legal Division. SLA has 25 subject divisions and the Legal Division is the 3rd largest with 1,287 members.

Maureen Festa recently changed jobs. She is now a Senior Content Analyst at Thomson Compumark. I was at the Center for Organization, Leadership and Management Research at the VA Boston, for almost six years.

Update from Lynda Moulton: For the past year I have been writing a blog on ‘enterprise search’ that members of the chapter may find interesting. It is published at: http://gilbane.com/search_blog/. In the next quarter, the Gilbane Group will be publishing a study on the enterprise search marketplace and industry, which I am writing. I will be including a summary of discussions I am having with professionals (IT, librarians, business managers) involved in some aspect of internal search product selection, implementation, or use. Anyone in the Boston Chapter of SLA who has been exposed to any enterprise search tools over the past two years, as part of a team effort or as a user is someone I would like to contact for a phone conversation about their experiences and impressions. They will not be identified in the report. Results will be available to participants. They should contact me at Lynda@gilbane.com. Members may also find a white paper on ‘social search’ produced for Vivisimo interesting. It can be downloaded at: http://gilbane.com/whitepapers.pl?view=27.
