2007 SLA Boston Awards by Hope Tillman, tillman@babson.edu The SLA Boston Awards Committee (Jean Scanlan, Sue Wolfman, and Hope Tillman) is delighted to announce this year's Chapter Award Winners for the Chapter Achievement Award and the Distinguished Service Award. It is always nice to be able to recognize our colleagues for their contributions. The Chapter Achievement Award recognizes a chapter member for outstanding committee work, performance in office, or execution of event-related duties, during this particular program year. Chapter Achievement Award Winners 2007
Kami Bedard – Kami has been the chapter's Maine Region Chair for programming for more than three years. She has enthusiastically taken on the roles of hostess, program planner, food and venue provider and after-event-social arranger. To communicate with the Board, she has phoned in to participate in Board meetings. In addition, she's been the News and Notes editor for the Bulletin for the past two years. She's a leadership pioneer and role model for our outreach members. Kris Liberman – Kris has served the chapter for the past several years as Student Relations Chair during which time the chapter has gained many new student members, and we are pleased to see them filter into active SLA Boston roles. April Taylor – As chair of Boston SLA Virtual Programming this year, April has single-handedly managed all the Click U programming, which included hosting (or finding hosts), implementing the phone-in attendance option (this included providing the conference-call number at her firm's expense), providing food, and managing all technical facets of the Click U webcast. The Special Recognition Award is conferred on longstanding chapter members as they cap their careers, and approach a well-deserved retirement, in recognition of what they have done or meant to the chapter. Toby Pearlstein - Over the years, Toby has presented successful programs for our chapter, including "Increasing Your Value in Trying Times" and this year's "Information Workflow Tracking Dilemma." She's also hosted events at Bain, and, most importantly she has encouraged Bain librarians to become active members of the Chapter. As a result of her efforts, the current Bain membership in SLA Boston is 11. There are also many Bain alumni still active in SLA Boston. Join us in congratulating this year's award winners! |
