Negotiation skills are important for any information professional. The speakers for this program represent different areas and viewpoints. Their goal is to help attendees feel empowered to be more knowledgeable buyers and thus more confident and more valuable to their employers.
- Buzzy Basch, President of Basch and Prenax USA
With 30+ years in the subscription industry. Buzzy has close connections with the library community and co-authored Buying Serials, A How-To-Do-It Manual for Librarians (more information). He will represent the business point of view and share lots of war stories.
- Toby Pearlstein, Ph.D, retired from Bain & Company
At Bain, Toby was responsible for the oversight management of Bain’s information centers, including global vendor contract negotiations and coordination of global information services policies.
- Rick Burke, Executive Director of the Southern California Consortia
Rick will talk about approaches for successful negotiation, consortial electronic resource management, and managing consortial e-journal packages.
- Attorney Bob Lucic from the firm of Sheehan, Phinney, Bass & Green
Bob represents clients dealing with the government and will discuss negotiation from a legal viewpoint.
