Network with colleagues and enjoy food and drink at the MIT Museum in Cambridge. The MIT Museum is
the place to begin exploring over 150 years of education and research at the forefront of science,
engineering, and technology, and the mission is to share the creative energy of MIT, to think outside
the box, and to stimulate an understanding and appreciation of the meanings of scientific and
technological innovation in the modern world. All concepts near and dear to many an SLA member's heart!
Late registrations and walk-ins are welcome. If
you register the day of the event, please email us as well to let us know. We would appreciate
registration/payment by Friday, September 14th in order to give an accurate count for catering.

Directions and Parking for the MIT Museum
To Main Gallery
ThThe MIT Museum is located on the north shore of the Charles River Basin in
Cambridge, Massachusetts, approximately five short blocks from the MIT campus.
The MIT Museum is accessible via public transportation and is within three miles
of two major interstate highways. The Museum is a 20-35 minute walk (depending on
the weather) from downtown Boston, a 20-25 minute walk from Back Bay Boston (also
depending on the weather), and a 30 - 40 minute walk (depending on the you-know-what)
from Harvard Square.
Directions by Car
For directions from your doorstep to MIT, MapQuest (http://www.MapQuest.com) offers excellent mapping
services including directions from anywhere in North America. Use the address
"265 Massachusetts Avenue, Cambridge MA 02139" for general directions to the Museum.
From the South:
Follow I-93 North (the Southeast Expressway) into Boston, then follow the I-93 instructions
below. If you are heading north on I-95, take the I-93 North exit, then follow the instructions
from I-93. Alternatively, take the I-90 East exit from I-95, then follow the instructions
from I-90.
From the West:
Follow I-90 east to the Cambridge/Brighton exit (exit 18). Following signs to Cambridge,
cross the River Street Bridge, and continue straight about 1 mile to Central Square. Turn
right onto Mass. Ave. and drive for about a half-mile. The Museum is on your left. If you
cross railroad tracks, you have gone too far.
From the North:
Follow I-93 South into Boston, then follow the I-93 instructions below. If you
are heading south on I-95, take the I-93 South exit, then follow the instructions
from I-93. Alternatively, take the I-90 East exit from I-95, then follow the instructions
from I-90.
From I-93:
From I-93, take exit 26, and follow the signs to Back Bay along Storrow Drive West, approximately
1.5 miles, to the exit for Route 2A. The exit is on the left, which leads to the Harvard Bridge
(more accurately called the Massachusetts Avenue Bridge). That’s the Charles River on your right.
As you cross the bridge, look for MIT with the Great Dome on the right. Continue on Massachusetts
Ave., through main campus, for three blocks and the Museum is on the right. If you reach a busy
intersection—Mass. Ave. and Main St.—you have gone too far.
Directions by MBTA/Subway
Take the Red Line to either Central Square Station or
Kendall Square/MIT Station, both are a short walk from the Museum.
From Central Square (approximately 10 min.), walk down Mass. Ave. toward Boston and the
main MIT campus. The Museum is on the left at Front St.
From Kendall/MIT Station at the east end of campus (approximately 15 min.), walk
down Main St., away from Boston, to Windsor St., turn left, take the second right onto
Front St., and continue to the museum entrance.
By Bus: The #1 or Dudley/Harvard Square bus travels along Massachusetts Ave. between
Boston and Harvard Square. The MIT Museum is across the street from the NECCO Candy/Novartis
Building. From Harvard Square, get off at either Sidney St. or Albany St. From Boston, get off at Front St.
From the Red
Line:From Alewife, connect with the Green Line at Park St.,
then connect with the Blue Line at Government Center and proceed as above.
From Braintree, connect with the Orange Line at Downtown Crossing, then
connect with the Blue Line at State Street and proceed as above. Or skip
the Blue Line and walk down from Government Center (see Green Line/Orange
Line above).
From North
Station: When you arrive at North Station, follow the signs up
to the Green Line station. Take the Green Line inbound two stops to
Government Center, then change to the Blue Line and go two stops to
Aquarium. Or skip the Blue Line and walk down from Government Center (see
Green Line/Orange Line above).
Parking for the MIT Museum:
There are five free parking spaces in back of the Museum (corner of Front and Windsor Streets),
including one handicapped accessible space.
Free additional parking is available after 6 pm and on weekends in MIT’s Windsor lot
across the street from back of the Museum.
Metered street parking is available on Massachusetts Ave. and side streets surrounding the Museum.
Pay parking available at Vassar St. Public Parking at the corner of Massachusetts Ave.
and Vassar St.(two blocks from the Museum) and at University Park Public Parking at the corner
of Landsdowne and Franklin Sts. (two blocks from the Museum).
