Knowledge Management Associate, CRICO/Harvard Risk Management Foundation, Cambridge, MA
CRICO/Risk Management Foundation is a respected world leader in medical malpractice claims management, loss prevention education and patient safety initiatives, and provides services exclusively for the Harvard medical institutions, their physicians and office practices.
The Knowledge Management Associate will assist the KM Team in providing the information and KM services to support the healthcare risk management and patient safety mission of the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in Knowledge Center operations, supporting daily news service, research, and literature search requests.
- Perform the day-to-day responsibilities of serials management; coordinate subscriptions with vendor; authenticate e-journal access with publishers, investigate and resolve access issues.
- Work with Knowledge Manager to design, build, and maintain a dynamic taxonomy for document and content management.
- Provide support on explicit and tacit knowledge projects, consisting of all phases of identification, capture, classification, storage, and dissemination of patient safety and other mission-related information.
- Participate in Knowledge Center visioning, strategic goal identification and implementation processes.
- Provide insight into the prioritization of Knowledge Center activities as gleaned through direct interaction with staff knowledge workers.
- Work with KM Senior Interface Designer to design, test, implement, and maintain Web-based KM structures for the company’s information assets.
- Make recommendations on emerging KM and information transfer technologies.
- Assume additional responsibilities as required.
Requirements:
- Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science or equivalent required. Experience in reference and research services desirable.
- KM corporate experience or equivalent KM coursework; taxonomy/meta data design; experience or interest in communities of practice.
- Demonstrated online search skills (Medline, Lexis-Nexis, Dialog).
- Working knowledge of MS Office, including Access and Visio; DreamWeaver, SharePoint, and RSS technology. SQL Server preferred.
- Familiarity with digital standards, including HTML, XML, and ASP.NET.
- Ability to work independently and as a team contributor; manage multiple projects and be results oriented; problem solve creatively.
- Strong verbal, interpersonal, written, and interviewing communication skills.
- Interest in working outside the traditional information provision role in a position embedded in the organization.
- Ideal candidate will have a background in health care and familiarity with MeSH; knowledge of risk management and patient safety a plus.
