General Description:
Responsible for conducting specialized research and analysis on the Internet, to produce quality and timely Web Common Law trademark reports for TCM clients. Responsible for finding and reporting valuable, relevant information which aids the clients decision-making process in trademark availability and protection matters.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The
Web Analysts undergo web-searching training specifically customized for trademark
research on the Internet and must successfully complete the training. Demonstrates
mastery in the above areas through skill checks and assessment searches.
Completes
Web Common Law Search reports
Analyzes
the trademark search request and develops an effective search strategy based
on trademark and goods similarity, as well as product scope.
Formulates
queries using Internet search engines such as Google, to retrieve pertinent
references that show potentially confusing or infringing uses of trademarks
on the Internet.
Analyzes
the data retrieved, and selects the most pertinent references for inclusion
on the Web Common Law trademark research report.
Completes
the Web Common Law research report in a timely manner according to the turnaround
schedule promised to the client and/or internal deadline.
May provide customer service support through the following means:
Answers
questions relevant to search reports completed.
Follows
through on client issues with the appropriate Team Leader, Sales, and/or other
appropriate departments/team member.
Maintains
an active understanding of the intellectual property (IP) industry and online
research, and grows knowledge of relevant technologies/services/industry events
to improve personal skills and gain a better understanding of client needs.
Job Context:
The Web Analyst spends the majority of time in front of a computer and keyboard. Moderate amount of manual dexterity is required. Visual demands may be high. The workday is spent in a climate-controlled office. Physical demands are minimal and sitting is required for most of the day. May be required to lift up to 15 lbs.
Upon Hire:
6 months-1 year experience in a business/customer
focused environment.
High proficiency in Internet searching utilizing
search engines.
Must possess analytical & problem solving
skills and a high attention to detail.
Strong evaluative skills, critical thinking, and
good judgment
Excellent comprehension of English language and
vocabulary.
Ability to multi-task and balance priorities and
shifting deadlines.
Strong communication (oral and written), organizational
and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word,
Excel, Outlook & Internet), Lotus Notes.
Ability to work independently as well as within
a team.
After Hire:
Understanding
and knowledge of Google search engine, specifically advanced searching techniques
and data content to retrieve relevant references within product scope.
Understanding
of the trademark life cycle including knowledge of US trademark law.
Knowledge
of all TCM products and services.
Working
knowledge of Palantir, Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook &
Internet Explorer), and Lotus Notes.
