Summary:

The Research/Information Specialist reports directly to the Business Development Specialist, but works closely with other members of the marketing team, as well as consulting and administrative staff. Utilizing our client relationship management system (CRM) InterAction and drawing on numerous research databases and other information tools, the Research/Information Specialist role is instrumental in supporting the marketing team’s business development and relationship management efforts.

The Research/Information Specialist will work with the marketing team and consulting staff to maintain current information on our contacts and capture our lead generation activities. In addition, this position will carry out work related to data cleansing/upkeep and report generation. The Specialist will also proactively and in response to requests, provide the marketing team and consultants with business development-oriented research.

This job is ideal for a candidate who has the intellectual curiosity to be creative; the tenacity to track down needed information; the desire to manage large amounts of data; and the ability to problem-solve with a very high level of attention to detail and accuracy.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

Provide high quality, thoughtful marketing-related research using internal and external research tools: Research legal/practice-specific news; find and route articles of interest to individuals; and set up searches in databases. Using our online databases and news sources (CourtLink, Factiva, InterAction, etc.), produce news summaries, company/individual dossiers, and industry/practice-specific profiles in support of business development initiatives.

Field consultant requests regarding new business/leads: Monitor news sources, leverage online tools to track litigation, and communicate updates. Work with the Business Development Specialist in entering/capturing, maintaining and reporting on existing leads utilizing our lead tracking system.

Keep our data current by monitoring news on attorney moves/promotions and making the necessary updates in InterAction.

Help promote and support InterAction’s use across the firm.

Support internal marketing efforts (i.e., proposals, RFPs, presentations) by leveraging our CRM system (InterAction) to identify relevant casework or contacts.

Assist with creating client mailing lists for events and targeted mailings

Assist with other marketing outreach materials, as needed.

Relationships:

Support the Business Development Specialist in fulfilling research requests from consulting staff and marketing team and tracking business development activities.

Interact with marketing team and consulting staff as InterAction advocate, training resource and problem solver.

Work closely with all members of the marketing team to provide to support on business development outreach and lead generation activities.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and one to two years of professional experience; preferred experience in legal or services industry

Must have solid research skills as well as good analytical and critical reasoning skills

Previous experience with (or knowledge of) contact management and CRM systems is preferred

Must be able to organize, plan and work on multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize work, meet deadlines, and be flexible in order to respond to shifting demands

Must have an interest in as well as comfort with learning and testing out new technology/information resources

Effectively and comfortably interact with senior staff

Exhibit a desire to learn, participate and take ownership

Proficient with applications: MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, Email, online research databases/tools. Previous experience using Factiva, LexisNexis or Westlaw products, or other online databases preferred

Accuracy, attention to detail, and problem solving ability are critical
