Chapter: Arizona Person Submitting the Report: Karen Holloway, President The following questions refer to the activities of your chapter during the June 1999 to June 2000 Association year. When the response is in the affirmative and additional details and explanation are requested, briefly provide written information on a separate piece of paper and attach it to this report form. Reports must be submitted by May 1, 2000. Please send samples of any chapter brochures or other printed materials. Thank you. A. ADMINISTRATION 1) Please list officers who have served during this current term. (A new officer form with corresponding labels will be sent to your president-elect.)
2) Does your chapter offer any type of leadership training for officers and/or committee chairs beyond the training provided at Leadership Development Institute? No 3) Is your chapter having difficulty finding officers? Yes Commitment needed for President-Elect is difficult for many people, both in terms of time and financial support. 4) Does your chapter have a policy and procedures manual? No 5) Does your chapter have a strategic plan? Yes Was it revised? Yes Date of last revision Aug. 1999 6) Does your chapter conduct a membership needs survey? Yes 7) Does your chapter have any liaisons with any other information related groups? Yes Often partner for programs with local chapters of groups such as ASIS, SCIP, and law librarians. 8) Does your chapter have a campaign promoting the profession? No B. FINANCE 9) Does your chapter have a fund raising campaign? Yes This year we held a drawing for donated Fiesta Bowl football tickets and raised $340. 10) Did you have enough funds to cover conference and other anticipated expenses? Yes 11) Do you support the travel expenses for your leaders at Winter Meeting and Annual Conference? Yes If yes, how much do you budget for each of these expenses? Winter Meeting $300 each for Pres. & Pres.-Elect 12) Does your chapter have a surplus of funds (more than this year's operating expense)? No 13) Does your chapter have an investment policy? Yes The Employment Chair posts new job opportunities to the Chapter listserv 27) Does your chapter have a membership committee? Yes 28) Does your chapter have a membership recruitment plan? Yes Membership Chair calls lapsed members. 32) Does your chapter have a new member reception or similar function? No 33) Does your chapter send "welcome packets" or similar information to new members? No 34) Does your chapter have a program targeted toward increasing diversity within your membership? No Not formally; the Diversity Chair keeps members apprised of diversity activities and issues. 35) Does your chapter have any members of a diverse population hold elected office, serve on a committee, or serve as a committee chair? Yes Treasurer and International Relations Chair. 36) Does your chapter have any student members? Yes 37) Are there any MLS or related programs in your chapter's area (Chapters only)? Yes University of Arizona School of Information Resources and Library Science. 38) Do students attend chapter meetings/programs? Yes 39) Does your chapter have a program targeted toward increasing student membership/participation? Yes Two programs in Tucson were targeted to students this year. 40) Does your chapter sponsor a student meeting? Yes Pizza support for one meeting. 41) Does your chapter have a mentoring program? No 42) Does your chapter sponsor any scholarships or other sources of financial aid? No 43) Does your chapter sponsor a student(s)'s attendance at the annual conference? No 44) Does your chapter sponsor a "career night" or similar type program? No 45) Does your chapter sponsor any activities for International Special Librarians Day? Yes One of the programs each year is usually on or near this date. 46) Does your chapter have any awards/honors to bestow upon members?
