Shri S.K.Vijaianand has 12 years of experience in this profession. Shri S.K.Vijaianand holds Masters Degree in Marine Geophysics and Library and Information Science and also pursuing PhD (Alagappa University, Karaikudi) . He is currently working as Assistant Librarian at Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur since April 2005. Prior to joining IIT Kanpur, he worked National Aerospace Laboratories (NAL), Bangalore and Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA). He did his professional training at National Centre for Science Information, Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore. Digitization, Digital libraries, Information Technology based Information Services are his areas of interest. Shri S.K.Vijaianand has participated and published in the national and international level conferences.

I-Quiz Trophy and Winner of cash prize at 23rd National Seminar on IASLIC, Bose Institute, Kolkata, India, Dec. 10-18, 2008.

He is a life member of Karnataka State Library Association (KALA), India & Indian Association of Special Libraries and Information Centres (IASLIC), India.

Projects / Major works involved:

Digitization of P.K.Kelkar Library Collection , IIT Kanpur (2005-2010): As a co-project investigator, established Institutional Repository by mass digitization of entire theses collection of Master’s and Doctoral dissertations produced from 1963 of One million pages. Presently 12,000+ theses are accessible through ETD repository on intranet powered by DSpace.

Migration of Library Management Software (2007-2008): Coordinated for the smooth data migration (250000 records) from in-house library software of IIT Kanpur (iitKLAS) Oracle database to LibSys (LS Premia).
