Stephen Abram

Stephen Abram, MLS, is President 2008 of Special Libraries Association, USA and the past-President of the Canadian and Ontario Library Associations. He is Vice President Innovation for SirsiDynix and Chief Strategist for the SirsiDynix Institute. Stephen was listed by Library Journal as one of the top 50 people influencing the future of libraries. He has received numerous honours and speaks regularly internationally. His columns appear in Information Outlook and Multimedia and Internet @ Schools, and SirsiDynix OneSource and he is the author of ALA Editions bestselling Out Front with Stephen Abram. He blogs at the popular Stephen's Lighthouse.


 

Gayle Gossen

Gayle Gossen has a B.A in English Literature from the University of Toronto and an MLIS from the University of Western Ontario. She worked as a librarian at the Toronto Star before moving as an Education Consultant to LexisNexis Canada where she also worked as an Account Executive, Marketing Manager, Manager of Customer Education and National Sales Manager. She has worked for CNW Group and Thomson Carswell in sales and sales management. She has also worked in several start-up organizations. She is currently a Business Intelligence Specialist for the Business and Relationship Intelligence division of Dow Jones in Toronto. Gayle is currently Secretary and Chair-Elect-Elect and has served as Director and Public Relations Chair with the SLA Business and Finance Division as well as compiling the best practices and co-ordinating their recent re-branding project. Gayle served as President, Bulletin Editor, Programmer and Awards Chair for the Toronto Chapter. She chaired the Task Force for Chapter Modeling and is currently co-chair of the First Five Task Force.


 

Jack W. Plunkett

Jack W. Plunkett is CEO & Publisher of Plunkett Research, Ltd., a Houston-based provider of market research and industry information in printed and electronic formats. Plunkett's client list includes leading corporations, institutions and government agencies worldwide. Jack Plunkett is the author or editor of more than 30 books, including Plunkett's Energy Industry Almanac, Plunkett's E-Commerce & Internet Business Almanac and Plunkett's Biotech & Genetics Industry Almanac. A life-long entrepreneur, he has been recognized as a finalist in the "Entrepreneur of the Year" competition sponsored by Ernst & Young.

Janice Lachance

The Honorable Janice R. Lachance is the 13th chief executive of the Special Libraries Association. She is a seasoned leader and communicator with more than 20 years experience in public service and governance, Janice is a collegial executive and team player with a concertmaster leadership style that inspires both allegiance and hard work. From 1997 to 2001, Janice was the Director (CEO) of the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM), the federal government's independent human resources agency. Appointed to this position by President Bill Clinton and unanimously confirmed by a bi-partisan U.S. Senate, Janice provided policy and program leadership for 1.8 million federal employees. The federal workforce encompasses a vast array of professions including astronauts, medical researchers, statisticians, forest rangers, economists, diplomats, biologists, attorneys, engineers, physicists, executives and, of course, information professionals and librarians.
