  1. Mr. Damodar Adhikari, Nepal, & the International Information Exchange Caucus, May 2003
    Mr Adhikari is an independent consultant on disaster preparedness and recovery, internet database management, library automation training, knowledge management , and establishment of information centers.  From 2000-2002, he was the UNICEF ROSA Assistant Documentation Officer for staffing and developed an experts database for the agency.  Prior to that, he served as Librarian for the UNFPA with responsibility for the the cataloguing, serials, and maintenance of the database of the agency's missions.
     

  2. Ms. Smita Chandra, & the San Francisco Bay Region Chapter, April 2003
    Ms. Chandra is the Librarian for the Indian Institute of Geomagnetism in Mumbai. She has been in LIS since 1995 and has a pot-graduate degree in Library and Information science from SNDT Women's University, Mumbai. She was selected for the IFLA/OCLC early Career Development Felowship in 2001 and was awarded membership in ASIST for 2001-2003.

  3. Dr. K.A. Raju, India & the Pittsburgh Chapter, April 2003
    Dr. Raju has been working in the field since 1965. first, he joined the council of Scientific and Industrial Research, New Delhi and later worked in its laboratories in Hyderabad, Chennai for several years.  He joined NIRD in 1980.  From 1985-1991, he was deputed by NIRD to the Centre on Integrated Rural Development for Asia and the Pacific, in Dhaka, Bangladesh. He has a B Sc in math, MA in statistics, an associateship in Information Science, and a Ph D from Karnataka University. His thesis was on Networking for Rural Development Information. He has written  nearly 50 papers in Indian and international journals and contributed to seminars and workshops

  4. Ms. Valentina Slavcheva, Bulgaria, & the Heart of America Chapter, March 2003
    Ms. Slavcheva is the director of the Central Technical Library of the National Center for Information and Documentation in Sofia.  NACID is a major provider of science, technology and economic information for its Bulgarian and international library users and also  collects unpublished scientific documents.  The NACID's Guide Index serves as a comprehensive Web gateway to information about Bulgaria and its government resources in particular. The library has an online catalogue, offers reference and interlibrary loan services, and provides official certification for deposited documents that have been recognized for scientific publication.

  5. Mrs. Denisa Parkosová, Czech Republic, & the Central Pennsylvania Chapter, January 2003.
    Inspired by her mother, a Director of the public library in Strakonice, Mrs. Parkosova embarked on a career in librarianship.  She is currently a doctoral student at the Charles University, Institute of Information Science and Librarianship in Prague.  She was an Information Specialist at  the Center for Democracy and Free Enterprise for two years and then Head of the Information Dept. of the Information Center for the Non-profit Sector. Since 2000, she has been the Knowledge Manager for Český Telecom, where she is  manages  the Information Centre, reference, and multiple databases,  including the library catalogue and competitive intelligence database.  She enjoys traveling, speaks Italian and Hungarian, plays squash, basketball, skis and swims.  E-mail: parkosova@centrum.cz

  6. Mrs. Chu Tuyet Lan, Vietnam & the North Carolina Chapter. October 2002
    Mrs.Chu is Director of the Dept. of Library-Documentation-Information at the Institute of  Han-Nom Studies in Hanoi, Vietnam. The Institute is the largest center in Vietnam devoted to preserving and researching the Han-Nom heritage. It houses 120,000 books, including Nom books of the Dao, Tay and other ethnic groups, and nearly 40,000 paper rubbings from stone stele, bronze bells, stone gongs and wood plaques dating from the Ly dynasty to the Nguyen dynasty (10th to 20th centuries). It also maintains over 15,000 units of wood block printing. The Institute has a staff of 66, including researchers.   7. Dr. Krishana Gopal Tyagi, India  & the DC Chapter.- Krishana Tyagi is Director of the National Social Science Documentation Centre at the Indian Council for Social Science Research in New Delhi, India. He holds an MLIS, and a Ph.D. in Political Science.  He is associated with many major programs and policy issues related to Library and Information Services in Social Science in India. He is also very active in training workshops for academics and librarians and in developing teaching kits and modules. Krishana is a new member of our DC chapter and the International Information Exchange Caucus.   9. Mr. Ayoku A. Ojedokun, Nigeria & the Cleveland Chapter - Mr. Ojedokun works for the Department of Library Services at the University of Botswana in Gaborone, Botswana. He holds a B.Sc.( Honors) degree in Chemistry and a Master of Information Science degree  from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. He has over 10 years of professional experience in library services. He is a member of the Botswana Library Association , and the Nigerian Library Association. He participated in the March 1999 Pan Commonwealth Forum on Open Learning presenting a paper entitled: "Distance Education and the New Information and Communications Technologies(ICT): an analysis of problems facing a developing country."   12. Mr. Awasom Innocent, Cameroun & Library Management Division
    Awasom is the librarian at the University of Ngaoundere Library in Adamawa, Cameroon, (as he says, "land of football"). He has a B.Sc. in Zoology, and MSc. in Zoology, and a Masters in  Information Science. There is no internet connection in his library. To keep current, he sends someone to the capital of Cameroon about every two months to scout for information and has established connections with cybercafe operators who scan for and send information to the library by train.   15. Mr. Albert K. A. Fynn, Ghana & Maryland Chapter - Mr. Fynn is the Collection Development Librarian at the Library and Documentation Office of the Bank of Ghana. He holds a Post-Graduate Diploma in Library Studies from the University of Ghana, Legon. In 1988, he began his career with the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) in Accra. While at CSIR, he created three databases, which are  in use today, using CDS/ISIS, a UNESCO approved library Software. Mr. Widarto Widharto, Indonesia & New Jersey Chapter - Chief Librarian, SEAMEO BIOTROP, Bogor.  Mr. Widharto won 6th prize in the second ASIST Digital Library and Information Science and Technology Competition for his paper, "Challenges in access to science and technological information in Indonesia during economic crisis".   18.   Ms. Marcia Rosetto, Brazil & Philadelphia Chapter - Marcia is the Technical Director of Automation Services of the Integrated Library System at the University of São Paulo (USP), Brazil. She holds a BS in Library Science from the University of São Paulo and is working on her MLIS thesis on Metadata at the Catholic University of Campinas, Brazil.  She held positions at different research institutions in São Paulo state, coordinated training on library automation in Brazil and Argentina, and presented papers on the subject at  Latin American conferences.   19. Mrs. Sunita Barv, India, & Physics, Astronomy and Math Division - Sunita is Head Librarian at the National Center for Radio Astrophysics Library in Pune, India. She has a master's degree in Library Science from University of Pune, and a bachelor's degree in Electronics. She is speaks English, Hindi and Marathi. Currently her greatest challenge is setting up the library for the new Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope at Narayangaon, India, which will attract many astronomers from all over the world.
