Welcome

Thank you for visiting the website for the Architecture, Building Engineering, Construction and Design (ABCD) Caucus.

Mission

To serve as a forum for Information Professionals who work in the Architecture, Building Engineering, Construction and Design industries.

History

Dennis Hamilton, our first Convener, was involved in a group called the Association of Architectural Librarians (AAL), which was tied closely with the American Institute of Architects (AIA). In 2000, financial support diminished and the AAL ceased to exist.

At SLA's 2004 Annual Conference in Nashville, Tennessee, Dennis approached other SLA members and decided there was enough interest to form a caucus. He did all the necessary work with SLA HQ and at the 2006 Annual Conference in Baltimore, we had our official first meeting. Dennis is no longer a special librarian, but he had a sincere desire to see that the ABCD Caucus continued. So, at the '07 conference in Denver, approximately twenty of us met to discuss the future. I volunteered to be the Convener and Alexa Hackbarth volunteered to be the Webmaster. We are excited about revitalizing the group and hope to see everyone in Seattle at the '08 conference. Please feel free to contact me with any questions and/or suggestions.

Thanks,

Karen Stauber
