The St. Catherine University Special Libraries Association Student Group is dedicated to promoting student involvement in the Special Library Association (SLA), enriching their experiences in the Masters of Library and Information Science Program, and providing unique and informative programs throughout the year. This website was created to keep students informed about current events in SLA, the student group and the profession.

• October 15, 2009: Special collections at the Hennepin County Central Library in downtown Minneapolis.
  
  Librarian Marcelyn Sletten will take us through the Milestones Collection in the Children's Library, and then librarian Heather Lawton will show us the collections in the Athenaeum. These unique collections are carefully preserved by the public library for research purposes. Both of these areas are closed to the public, so don't miss this opportunity!

  6pm to about 7:15pm (students who have Thursday night class would be able to make the 2nd half of class)
  Please arrive no later than 6:20pm since past that the group will be in an inaccessible area.
  Meet at the Milestones Collection in the Children's Library (main floor). There will be a place to drop coats and bags.

Annual Conference Scholarship
The 2010 SLA Annual Conference will be held in New Orleans, June 13 - 16, 2010.
Check out the scholarship and stipend opportunities on our conference page. Status: Award will be applied for and given in 2010.
 
Aspnes Scholarship
The Grieg Aspnes Memorial Award: $2,000 scholarship for a SCU MLIS student interested in Special Librarianship. Award will be applied for and given in 2010.
